Colonel Davy Crockett solves the mystery.
That is indeed Fess Parker aka Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone from TV. He went on to play an oddball hillbilly type in the big budget monster epic THEM!, where Walt Disney spotted him and the rest is history!!
This is also an especially good and rare episode.
Since only about 47 episodes of the original series are available to watch, I am curious as to when Joe was shot in the shoulder. Frank took five bullets and came out of it in The Big Frank. When was Joe shot?

Classic Friday.
Was that Fess Parker, who later played "Davy Crockett", as the officer in the beginning of the show?
